Last year I started a thread about abolishing the AVL lists. mocksportsfantasybb.proboards.com/thread/909/abolish-avl-lists-2022Tom Davis (Crosley) had prepared the lists for years and now that he's passed on we have two possible choices. 1. Somebody volunteers to creates AVL lists and post them 2. We do as I suggested and stop producing the AVL lists. Any player nominated at auction must have at 1 ML AB or IP. Other than Tom, who prepared the the files, the only person who spoke out in favor of the lists was Tom Egan ( tomfool). Unless we get a few more strong opinions that the AVL lists are necessary, I propose we go with option 2. Thoughts?

I agree with Joe. No available lists. Available lists confine us when there are mistakes in the lists or free agent developments after the lists are posted. I have been in many leagues without an available list where the drafts have gone smoothly. On mocksports, there have been some bitter and time consuming arguments during drafts about the implications of a player left off the list. Crosley did an amazing job of creating the lists, but a single mistake regarding a key player can cause havoc.

I’m okay going without the lists given all the difficulties getting the season going and Tom’s sad absence. I think the most pressing concern is filling the leagues.

I agree, no AVL lists necessary. We will have to rely upon the combined knowledge of the other owners in the auction to catch any instance of somebody nominating an ineligible player or a player at an ineligible position but I don't see that as a problem. Maybe there will be a mistake made, but there were mistakes made when we had AVL lists.

Oh yes so sorry to hear about Crosley. He made my life so much easier with the lists. I've never done a draft here without one, but I'll figure out a new way to go about getting ready for the drafts.
