The highlighted area in red may need to be adjusted.
The rules follow:
Current Season
a) In addition to eligibility based on 3.3.2 (a) above, a player becomes eligible at a position at which he appears in an MLB game at least five times in the current season. This eligibility extends throughout the current MLB season.
b) Players who have not appeared in the Major Leagues in the current season are eligible at the position at which they have appeared the greatest number of times in the current season in the minor leagues or a comparable non-US league, provided the non-US appearances are documented by a source deemed reliable by the Realist. This eligibility may end based on the player’s appearance(s) in MLB in the current season.
c) All batters are eligible at DH (AL leagues) or UT (NL leagues). A non-pitcher may NOT be put into a pitcher slot, even if he appears as a pitcher in a Major League game. A pitcher may NOT be put into a batter slot, even if he appears as a pinch-hitter or at a position other than pitcher in a Major League game. So-called “two-way” players must be assigned to either a hitter’s position or as a pitcher when acquired. This assignment may be changed one time during the current season; after this reassignment, the player will remain as hitter or pitcher until the next regular season begins.
Pre-Season
a) A player is eligible at any position at which he appeared at least 20 times in the Major Leagues the previous season. (If the player did not appear at any single position at least 20 times, he is eligible at the position at which he appeared most often in MLB the previous season.) This eligibility extends throughout the current MLB season.
b) Players who did not appear in the Major Leagues during the previous season are eligible at the position at which they appeared the greatest number of times in the previous season in the minor leagues or in a comparable non-US league, provided the non-US appearances are documented by a source deemed reliable by the Realist. This eligibility may end based on the player’s appearance(s) in MLB in the current season.
