I would like to bring up for discussion for addition to the rules.
I would like to see us be able to add a new Minor League player to the minor league roster when a subsequent Minor League player is activated. For example:
1. The Weekend Warriors activated Tanner Bibbee from their Minor League Roster, leaving them with an open roster spot on their Minor League Roster.
2. The Weekend Warriors would then be able to claim a new Minor League Player to replace Tanner Bibbee. The replacement player would have to meet the following criteria. a) The new player would have to un-rostered at the time he is picked up.
b) He must have ZERO MLB ABs or ZERO IP
c) He would be added as a (E1) Minor League Rostered Player
3. He would be claimed at the time of the announced activation of the Minor League Player.
I believe this adds a bit more excited and involvement for the entire season. I would like to see how others feel about this idea.

I like this idea provided it begins next year, not this year. I would want to limit the addition of a minor league player only to situations where he is replacing another minor leaguer who has been activated by his owner, not for any other way in which a minor league roster spot might open up (trade, waiver). I want to address one ramification of this proposed change after the MLB draft in June or whenever it is this year. I don't think that newly drafted minor leaguers should be made available by this rule - I would like to restrict it to minor leaguers who were eligible for the current year's Mocksports minor league draft. My reasoning is that the #1 draft pick shouldn't be available as an E1 to the first owner who activates a minor leaguer.

I don’t like it, because it basically sets up a situation where folks are filling empty spots without considering standing or results. Under our present rules, teams who win pick last. If this rule is adopted, the standings would only be considered at the farm draft in the beginning of the season.
I like the idea of leaving the newly drafted players out of the pool.
Wouldn’t the player claimed have to go in the slot of the activated player with the associated salary? Not getting the E1 bit.

Any method of integrating more prospects into our league is a good thing

I have no problem with the way things are now.

How would this proposed rule affect trades where someone trades a MLB player for a minor leaguer, making that the sixth minor leaguer on one of the rosters.

How would this proposed rule affect trades where someone trades a MLB player for a minor leaguer, making that the sixth minor leaguer on one of the rosters. As it now stands, we can trade a MLB player for a minor leaguer, but when it comes time for the next freeze, he has to be down to 5 minor leaguers to post his freeze. IMO, it would work the same if we expounded to 10 minor leaguers, we would just have 10 slots for available freezes, and if you were to make trades that put you over the 10 man roster limit, you still would only be able to freeze 10.

I have moved the posts regarding new types of leagues to a different thread so we can continue the minor league roster replenishment discussion here.
