Rule 5.8.4j says "If more than one team submits the same high bid the player goes to the team lowest in the standings at the time the result is announced by the League Administrator or FAAB Monitor." Also, SPCR should get him for $6 since that's what he bid.

So, if this occurs on August 3rd - two days after the trade deadline - when some may be more anxious to see the results of the bidding - an LA looks at the standings as of 10:01 PM that night…and posts the results that night. Because the deadline was August 6th at 10 PM - we use the standings on August 7th?? if I was in Bell - and there was a tie - we would have gone by yesterday’s standings because the bidding results for Schneider were posted around 11 PM eastern on 8/6.

If the deadline was 8/6 at 10 PM eastern - why would you not use the standings posted as of the time of the deadline? Rule 5.8.4j says "If more than one team submits the same high bid the player goes to the team lowest in the standings at the time the result is announced by the League Administrator or FAAB Monitor." Also, SPCR should get him for $6 since that's what he bid. Spears Carriers was lower in the standings on 8/6. The bid was submitted after noon on 8/6 which is why the approval date was for 8/7. And the rules state that the winning bid will be the lowest bid plus $1. That would be $6 plus $1. Nothing in the rules discuss any changes in the amount to be deducted when there is a tie.5.8.4 (j) The player is awarded to the highest bidder. The effective date and time of transaction is the time stamp on the winning bid. If more than one team submits the same high bid the player goes to the team lowest in the standings at the time the result is announced by the league administrator or FAAB Monitor. We use the Vikrey system of bidding which states that for winning bids the number of dollars deducted from the winner's FAAB budget shall be the amount of the second highest bid plus $1. Under this rule, if an owner submits the only bid the owner gets the player for $1. This bid may also determine the player's salary for the remainder of the season.
This may be something that the rules committee should take a look at. Maybe something to the effect that in the case of a situation where two teams bid the same amount, the team lowest in the standings wins the bid and the amount of dollars deducted shall be the winning teams bid.
