It is with a heavy heart that I must let you all know that my father, Tom “Crosley” Davis, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 10th at the age of 69. Unfortunately, we do not definitively know what caused his death but can only hope that he was at peace when he left us. What I do know is that my father loved being a part of Mocksports and playing fantasy baseball with you all. I can remember being a kid back in the days of CompuServe and being so excited to help him build a team - especially when I was able to talk him into buying one of my favorite players even if they may have cost him a bit more than he would have liked! Eventually, I started my own teams and it continued to be a way for us to stay close. The week of auctions became something of an event in our household and throughout the year we’d talk about our teams with one another particularly when one of our players was going up against our beloved Reds. I really don’t think I can fully express how much he enjoyed his time here and I’m sure that he would hope that Mocksports is able to carry on strong without him. Due to some extenuating family circumstances, the visitation and funeral was delayed and is scheduled to be held this Thursday, February 10th beginning at 10 AM EST. The service will take place at the Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Homes located at 11365 Springfield Pike in Springdale, Ohio. You can view Tom’s obituary here which also includes information on sending flowers or making a donation in his name should you feel so inclined. If you have any other questions for me, please feel free to message me directly and I will answer them as soon as I am able. And again, thank you all for being such an important part of my dad’s life.

Oh, Alex, I'm so sorry to hear this news. I'm shocked. He will surely be missed by our community.
I hope you'll continue to play in our leagues in your Dad's honor.
Tom did a lot of work for the league as an LA and admin as well as putting together the list of players available for auction. Big shoes to fill.
Joe

Damn. This breaks my heart.
Of all the people I've "met" in more than three decades of fantasy baseball, Tom was among the nicest, earnest and welcoming. His energy was infectious and I truly believe I could feel his smile.
One of my biggest regrets in this community is that we never met, shook hands, swapped stories at a ballpark.
The Cincinnati Reds lost one of their most passionate fans, Alex, as well as a man I imagine was a tremendous father.
My thoughts will be with you and the family as long as I participate in this game.

Alex, my heart goes out to you and the rest of your family. Your dad was one of the pillars of Mocksports for as long as I've been here and for some time before that. I always liked bantering with him and enjoyed his great sense of humor which often came through in his posts. It won't be possible to fill his shoes here. I and the others of us still here will miss him terribly.

Alex, I am so sorry to hear this news. For years now we all have been competing against one another yet we have in a way become family over the years. This is a big loss for the Davis Family as well as this family here. My prayers go out to you and your family.

I'm so devastated to hear this news and my heart is heavy for your family. As much as he meant to Mocksports, that has to pale as to what he meant to you and your family.
I am also sorry I missed your post. Had I seen it in time, I would have made my best effort to come down to Cincinnati.
Your dad has meant a lot to me in my Mocksports years and I will miss his intelligence, kindness and wit.
My prayers and condolences go out to your family.

Alex This is very sad and shocking news. My heart goes out to you and your family. Tom was so generous with his time and so smart when others disagreed with his interpretations of the rules. As others have said, his shoes will be hard to fill. I too am sorry I never met him, but his was a strong presence here. He will be missed. Steve

I cannot believe what I just read.
Alex, I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family, at a time like this. If there is anything I can do for you or your family, just say the word and I will be there to help. I am only about 2 hrs away.
Your dad is going to be missed. Wish I had read the post before today, as I would have definitely been at the funeral.
Wish we would have somehow found the time to get together in person, and root for the Reds at a game in Cincinnati.
My sincerest condolences to you are your family. Rick

Thank you all for the kind words you have left here about my dad. I shared them all with my mom and sister and they were just as touched by them as I am. It is nice to read about the impact that he was able to have on all of you over the years and I know you had just the same on him as well. Even though it's all been online, it's amazing to see the relationships you can still have with someone through the internet.
And I am so sorry that I had to post the information about the service as late as I did, but we were battling a lot of scheduling issues as we made arrangements. Maybe sometime down the line we can meet up for a game and share stories. But for now, I am truly grateful for all of your messages and wherever dad is I know they mean a lot to him, too.

I don't live anywhere near Cincinnati but I would love to go to a game with you guys, especially in Crosley's honor, so would try to make arrangements.
